While Penang serves as home base, it is also home to one of Fuan’s other passions, plants! Set on 2 acres of his family’s durian orchard you’ll find the tourist attraction known as the “Art & Garden”. Here you’ll be astounded by a variety of plant life ranging from airplants, bromeliads, aloes and agaves to cycads and ylang ylang trees (renowned for their precious timber mix). His passion for art and horticulture can be seen reflected in his works and viewable in this attraction. The Penang Series are a beautiful collection of discs, containing geometric patterns and floral designs all unique to Mother Nature. Why are circles so important to the Chinese? They serve as a representation of harmony and balance of yin and yang and the duality of nature, which is an essential part of Daoist and Chinese medical philosophies. This series containing discs, are a premiere representation of both!
What’s so special about Penang?
In addition to its mouth-wateringly delicious street food as diverse as it’s cultural influences (Malay, Indonesia, Chinese, Singapore and Indian). You’ll find that traveling to this beautiful island in Southeast Asia is quite accessible due to its strategic location and international airport that connects you to other noteworthy Malaysian cities and international hotspots like Guangzhou, China, and the countries of Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taipei. Georgetown is cited as an historical city by UNESCO due to its abundance of heritage buildings that are both protected and recognized for their global significance. Another point worth mentioning is the amazing contrast between the beach, city and rainforest; all unique to this incredible island as if it’s fascinating history and tropical weather aren’t enough to entice you!
